Finishing February 2024 In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
February 27, 2024
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here. This week in Fort Lauderdale the best way to describe it would be quality not quantity! This week there has been an excellent sailfish bite but live bait has been major key and kite fishing has been the preferred method to fish the live baits. All the cold fronts we have been having back to back has made it difficult fishing, this time of year it seems that when you have steady fishing conditions for a few days thats when the fishing begins to pick up but when the weather is changing daily it makes it hard to pin point a pattern. Trolling has been very hit and miss one trip you get a few quality bites and other days you scratch your head wondering what you could do different to get a bite. For the most part though we have been making it happen! One type of fishing that has been somewhat steady is the bottom fishing has been decent some vermillion snappers on most bottom spots in depths around 300 foot and some larger amberjacks are starting to set up shop on the local ship wrecks right off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, like the one we caught this week weighing 70lbs (pictured). All in all we try to give our absolute best everyday and sometimes you have to take what the ocean gives you even if its not the fish that you want something is better then nothing. It looks like moving forward into the month of March that the fronts should be done with and we will start to see some of our great spring fishing patterns forming. This week please be sure to check out some of the great pictures we have of some recent catches that were caught out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing so you can see what we are catching day to day. With February coming to and end and March right around the corner I expect big things from large game sharks to giant amberjacks on shipwrecks from larger tunas as well, spring is ready to be sprung! On that note if your thinking about heading to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing please look us up we would love to have you and show you a great day out on the water.
