Orange Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Red snapper, grouper, king mackeral, wahoo .......
June is coming to an end and it has been a good month of fishing. We have mostly fished 12 hour trips. They have produced red snapper, gag grouper, red grouper, scamp, vermillion snapper, white snapper, triggerfish, king mackeral and wahoo. The 12 hour trip is all about variety and usually some big fish. The 10 hour trip has been has been producing red snapper, king mackeral and sometimes a grouper. The 6 hour trip has been producing some king mackeral as we troll nearshore and we are also catching a few red snapper. The 4 hour trolling trip is a great family trip as we troll for king mackeral and spanish mackeral. See below for some highlights of this past week.
June 29th. This 12 hour trip required a lot of work and patience from the captain, the deckhand and the anglers. We had a great start catching some nice king mackeral and then had a slow bite with the red snapper. We kept fishing and catching more king mackeral. We finally got on a good red snapper bite and also caught some grouper. Thanks to Jason Rogers and his group.
June 28th. Alec Thigpen with their family reunion. This group enjoyed the entire trip with beautiful calm seas, good food, good drinks, and some good fishing. Variety was the feature on this 12 hour trip with a nice amberjack, red snapper, vermillion snapper, white snapper, triggerfish, grouper, scamp, king mackeral and a wahoo. See pics below including the fight with the wahoo.
June 27th, 2006 We enjoyed having Phyllis and her family with us on this 4 hour trolling trip on the Getaway. This was a very relaxing ride along the coastline of Orange Beach with some sightseeing and some fishing. We caught several king mackeral. We released some that were too short but ended up with enough king mackeral and spanish mackeral for a nice family dinner. A fun time by all.
June 26th David Long and his family took home a nice catch of fish from this 12 hour trip. This was the best black snapper bite we have seen all year. A great catch of red snapper, black snapper, vermillion snapper, triggerfish, king mackeral and the big grouper that David was looking for. Good job by Dad as he landed this nice grouper. With some training and coaching from Gill, my deckhand, this family landed a great catch of fish. Mom was getting a little help from her daughter as she faught this black snapper.
