Report for Long Island Sound

Capt. Sal Tardella
October 24, 2006
Norwalk Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

It was a very limited week of charters because we had five cancellations from passengers concerned about inclement weather.

Thursday’s trip was with Adam Morton of Stamford and three of his colleagues. We started the afternoon using tube and worm around the Norwalk Islands, bringing in school-sized striped bass. Then we made our way towards 11B, and stayed there for the most of the day, bringing in blues up to 10 pounds and bass up to 26”—all on jigs. We stopped over on the way home and tallied another half a dozen bass on bucktails.

On Sunday we sailed with Richard Tarantino of Stamford and his girl friend, Jan Allen of Darien—for whom the fishing trip was a birthday gift. We started off in the middle of the Sound, jigging for blues and brought in a few weighing 7-9 pounds. We then moved to Westport and did very well with bass up to 26” and a few more blues in the 9-pound range.
