Red, White and Blue on the Board

Capt. Larry Pentel
July 4, 2018
Destin - Saltwater Fishing Report

Whew, 4th of July and it's busy !!! I took the afternoon off to fix broke stuff and get off a very crowded beach.

Fishing is still good, lots of Red Snappers. We even had a REAL one this morning, about 25#. Not that many big ones but plenty of good fish. The kings have been biting good, a few black Snappers, a grouper bite or 3 'bout every trip. They are still the hardest fish to land, first you gotta hook 'em, then keep 'em out of the bottom and then... beat the sharks back to the boat.

Still a few more weeks of Red Snapper season and then Triggers ( and Amberjacks) re-open on August first. There are LOTS of Triggers around, hopefully they will still be here in another month.

Here's a few pics... I'm off to take a nap....

I'm at Grayton for about another month and then off to the 'Pass to chase Tarpon and Tripletails for 3 weeks in August.... so many fish, so little time...

More Fishing Reports:

Gulf Fishing off Grayton Beach in beautiful South Walton. Red Snapper to Cobia to King Mackeral to Grouper. No need to get up early or drive for an hour to a marina. We will pick you up on the beach and be on a reef or wreck in usually less than 15 minutes. Some of the Gulfs best fishing lies just offshore of the snow white sands of South Walton. We also offer Tarpon trips at Indian Pass during the summer run. July and August have large schools of giant Silver Kings feeding just off the beach.
