Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
July 12, 2001
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's Official- 202 pound Tarpon is a World Record

Capt. Steve Kilpatrick's and Jim Holland Jr. can celebrate their official catch. The IGFA released information on July 10 to Kilpatrick that his record is official.

The fish was caught on May 11.(See archived report)

This is great news for the tarpon community of Homosassa and to county of Hernando south of here.

What the record shows is that there are real big tarpon here. Sometimes proof is the best source.

Tarpon anglers have given it up here lately with all the hot weather and rain. The thunderstorms run the

anglers away and the fish, too.

Hopefully next year will bring more silver king tarpon.
