Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
October 27, 2003
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spotted sea trout action has been very good. Trout up to 21 inches have been bagged. 5M floating and Catch 2000 Mirrolures in the 808 color worked great for Ben Spearmen aka Mr. Orvis of the Atlanta Fishing Club.

Cajun Thunders in red 3 inch cigar shape with Cotee Twin Tails in pearl worked for us. Most of the fish have been in shallow water less than 4 feet in thick kelp grass beds.

Lately we have had to fish hard for big redfish. But, there are loads of little rats in the 15 inch range. That is good news for the future. Johnson Spoons and live shrimp have been the ticket.

Dr. Carter Smith landed the biggest pompano I have ever seen. It meaaured a whopping 22 1/2 inches.

Jerry Lynn caught 3 sheepshead up to 4 pounds and several jack crevalle.

Remember if you are too busy to go fishing, well you are just too busy!

Have a Great Day!
