Scallops and Redfish Schools To Pursue in Homosassa

Capt. Mike Locklear
July 31, 2009
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

While there are still plenty of tarpon to be played with, August means hitting the shallows for scallops or redfish.

A trip up to the Springs to cool off might be fun as well.

The rain and lightning has been messin' with all but the brave or stupid--whichever!

I have been hearin' two stories 'bout where them dadburn tasty little critters are. Out deep in 12-15 feet or very shallow in 3-4 feet of water.

The best in the state I heard is up north of Steinhatchee just offshore of Dallus Creek.

Redfish are spotty but may have shown up in their usual spots on this here full moon uh comin'. Surely near the new moon we should be reeling in and releasing until our arms hurt.

Y'all get out there and go fishin' because it is good fer ya!

Capt. Mike
