Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

It was another great day with my cuz, Captt. Matt Locklear just outside the Homosassa River. Actually, yesterday when the weatherman called for 80% chance of rain. Well, it did pour but not until 3pm. There was only a few anglers out and we pretty much had the backcountry to ourselves.
Fishing with Matt is always a lot of fun. Each time I go out, he takes to places around Homosassa I bypassed because, well, I was scared to try it in my boat. He has been fishing since he was 10 years old with his Uncle commercially. That is what separates the men from the boys. Intimate knowledge is when you have the knowhow to make a good living with something that has faded out with a black curtain. But that was back then and now he is going back to guiding once again.
We landed 21 Redfish to 24 inches, ! snook and 1 Redfish. No brag, just fact. Except the Trout eluded us. I guess they were full. That's why they have tails! - to transits!!
Below, is Matt's Profile, someone else wrote it that is not kinfolk, so you know Matt is well received and this is about as good as any guide could hope for - an awesome plug. He is taking over my reins and it is my pleasure to share with a good Kid(compared to me he is ha ha!)
Homosassa Backcountry Fishing is on a mission of introducing anglers to the most amazing fishing destinations in and around Homosassa, Florida. They are operated by Captain Matt Locklear, a 4th generation fishing guide in this area who has infinite knowledge of the Homosassa waterways and tons of stories to tell about them.
Captain Matt Locklear offers half or full day fishing adventures, as well as half day Manatee tours and Scalloping trips. He is certain any trip you book will be so good you will remember it forever. And why is he so sure? Well, he learned all about fishing from his family who are well known in Homosassa, he is patient with first timers and kids, and his boat was built for these waters.
The boat is a 24' beautiful Carolina Skiff performance fishing originally built in 2017 with a capacity for up to four guests. Powered by a 115 HP Yamaha Four Stroke engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 35 knots, this skiff will transport you to the best spots very quickly. It has a tower for sighting, a jack plate for better fuel efficiency and moving across shallower waters that engine specs, a wireless trolling motor for super quiet trolling, and a power pole to keep you in the productive spot.
Now, let's talk fish. The geographic positioning of Homosassa on the Florida map means it gets plenty of warm currents caressing its shores, grass flats, and mangroves. It also means that a variety of fish species is available year-round. Some of them are Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Snook, Grouper, and Cobia. Scalloping season is open from
