Lake Tohopekaliga - Freshwater Fishing Report
I'm really looking forward to my upcoming Guided Bass Trips on Lake Toho for the new year. Yes it has been cold lately and a drastic drop in water temperature has been known to make the Toho trophies lethargic....but....a sudden rise in water temperature is also known to make them easy!
The second half of January and leading in to February should be just as productive or maybe even better than past years. The hydrilla is thinner now which makes it easier to present a bait and also forces the fish to use specific locations.
Many anglers when trying to plan a successful outing, will make reference to the spawn and moon phase during this time of year. I tend to find the day to day weather to be the most important indicator. A warming trend on the leading edge of a frontal system will typically be your better days. Water temperature is huge with these Florida strain trophies and really seems to dictate their activity level most.
If you are going to be in the Orlando or Kissimmee area be sure to check me out at www.guidedbasstrips.com and give me a call. There should be plenty of upcoming warming days for scheduling a great trip.
Good fishing,
