Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
It seems as though the winds are starting to give us a little break and with clear water that adds up to a good day of sight fishing here on Mosquito Lagoon. We have started to get a good number of bait pods showing up on the flats and in the creeks of New Smyrna Beach. We have also had a pretty good shrimp run flowing out of the creeks as well the last couple of weeks so needless to say the fish have had a lot to choose from. The trout bite has been good with many 25" and bigger coming boat side and a lot of them have been sight fished with live shrimp. They have been chewing live mullet and soft plastics as well. The redfish and black drum bite has been just as good with several large schools of both through out the Lagoon system. The redfish have been eating anything from cut bait to ADL spoons and everything in between. The black drum can be fooled on gulp baits, shrimp and broken crab. The snook are really starting to show there selves as the water temp continue to increase. Plugs , twitch baits , soft plastics and live bait are good choices.
