SeaVee Boats - Catch More Fish

Mosquito Lagoon & North Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Chris Myers

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Not much to report on the Mosquito Lagoon as I have not fished it in some time. I took a two week vacation to Stuart where we fished for tarpon and snook, kingfish and little tunny. Upon returning, I fished the Indian River and caught several tarpon and tons of seatrout. The trout along with ladyfish, can be found around the spoil islands under the glass minnows. A DOA deadly combo or a free lines DOA shrimp is effective for both. The Indian River also produced a nice redfish for Matt B., from Iowa.

The creeks along the southern Indian River around Melbourne are all holding tarpon from 10-60 pounds. We have been jumping fish on DOA shrimp and Baitbusters.

The nearshore action has also been hot. Today, I fished two brothers from Texas. We launched at Port Canaveral and fished the beaches landing seven kingfish, a little tunny, several sharks, and a cuda. All fish were caught in 35-40 feet of water trolling live pogies.
