Fall bite is on!

Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Temp is 78 degrees

Water is at down about 2 feet

The fall fishing run has finally started and it looks as if it is going to really be great. Every year we bite our fingernails down to nubbins' waiting on the water to cool down and for the fish to show up. It is really unnerving, especially for us fishing guides and we get really excited when we finally start catching fish again.

Over the past few days we have had some great reports and catches coming off the lake. Guys are fishing with spoons, live bait, pulling Norris Rigs and everyone seems to be doing pretty good.

The areas you should concentrate on is River Bend, Sugar Creek, and the middle of the lake. This is also a great time for schooling fish and there have been some reports of huge schools coming up around the great waters area.

Not to be too presumptious, but take a look at my web site www.fishingoconee.com under the Access Oconee banner. This is a subscription service that I offer which entails real time fishing reports, GPS points, Google Maps Pinpoints, each of which tells you where the fish are biting. You get contacted each day and get an updated report where the fish are. For just pennies a day, it is the greatest investment for the weekend fisherman.

Doug has been guiding on Lake Oconee for over 10 years. His specialty is trophy Striped and Hybrid Bass, and huge Crappie during certain months. His boat is a Ranger 2300 Bay Series powered by a 225 Yamaha 4-stroke motor. It is spacious and can fish up to 6 people! Lake Oconee is the second largest reservoir in the state of Georgia with over 18,000 surface acres of water. The lake is heavily stocked each year with Striped and Hybrid Bass. Doug tries to catch all of them!
