Lake Oconee - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water Temp 83 degrees.
Hey Guys,
Just fresh back in from beautiful Boca Grande Florida for our annual 2 week O.T.C. (operation tarpon catch) and we had a blast!
Now we are back in the real world and the hybrid fishing at Lake Oconee is the real deal. Took my first party out yesterday, after not fishing for 2 weeks, and the fish were right were they were suppose to be; thank goodness for trusty fishing logs.
Actually there were so many the graph resembled the pictures I was getting from Boca. There were so many hybes the water column was filled from 5 foot all the way down to 30. And we caught them!
The fish would not look at a small shad, but the big gizzards they adored. You need bait about 8 to 10 inches long, and don't think the fish cannot swallow them. I was suprised yesterday in the amount of fish we hooked deep inside their throats.
The fish are in Sugar Creek, Flagpole point and various humps on the southern end of the lake. Look for the big swirls and large bait jumping out of the water, then you know you have found the spot. Interested in tying up with one of these big guys before the weather gets unbearable, just give me a call.
Tight Lines
Doug Nelms
