Bay St. Louis - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fished Monday and Tuesday of this week with good results in the Biloxi Marsh. Monday, was David Gray and his nephew. David's wife got him this trip for a Christmas present this past year. Tried to find trout all morning but never found that 'bite'. Some of the ones we put in the box were studs though. Once the tide came up, we found the bay chovies getting smashed over the grass beds by the big bull reds. We spent the afternoon putting our tackle to the test. Got 10 of them to the boat for pictures and kept the two smallest for the grill. His nephew had never caught a fish bigger than his hand, needless to say he was tired, but very happy. Ended the day with 13 nice specks, 10 bull reds(8 released).
Today was the world famous Wolfe Pack from Pass Christian, MS. Raleigh, Gaines, Francis and Taylor were along for the ride. Took their boat today and only had to go to one spot. Luckily found the trout in shallow water, sometimes less than 2 foot. The bait was thick even with the dirty, choppy bay we were fishing in. Used the popping corks and Marsh Works Shrimp to put 49 keeper trout in the boat by noon. Did go 1 for 2 on the bull reds. I think the fact that they left us alone let us put way more trout in the box today. Just heard thay Bay Marina on Washington st. will now carry Marsh Works Tackle. Fishing is getting right, we have boats and the lodge open.
