Branson: Fishing guides are still having success both shallow and deep in the Branson area. The shallow bite has been primarily on a stickbait; SPRO McSticks and Megabass Vision 110 have been the most popular baits with purple and blue hues outperforming other colors. The deep bite has changed a little over the past week; most of the shad and in turn the fish have moved toward the main lake in the mouths of larger creek arms. Webb tail spoons and drop shot rigs with Tightlines UV or Chompers worms have been catching most of the fish.
Kimberling City: The shallow bite has been a little better over the past week in the mid lake area. Branson fishing guides continue to well with stickbaits on flat points near deeper water. SPRO McStick and Vision 110 are the most popular baits; look for flat points with a mix of rock and gravel to be the best locations isolated standing timber is a plus. The deep bite has not been as strong in the mid lake; most of the deep fish have scattered as the bait moved from the back of creeks toward the main lake. Fish can still be caught deep but they are scattered.
James River: The James River turned on last week and Branson fishing guides did really well with an Umbrella Rig. Most of the fish are fairly shallow being caught less than ten feet deep. The best baits on the rig have been a Tightlines UV broke back jerk or a Zoom swimming fluke junior. Natural shad colors are outperforming others with albino and shad black back taking most fish.
White River: The same shallow stickbait patterns working on the rest of the lake have been effective in the White River. Look for flat points with a mix of rock and gravel and a isolated timber to be the most productive areas. A Jewel football jig has been working well on these same points when the stickbait bite slows. Watermelon candy 5/8 oz. Jewel football jigs with either a J-Tail or Tightlines jig trailer in green pumpkin has been the best color.
