Branson: Fishing guides noticed some dramatic changes since the cold snap last week; a solid shallow bite is on all over the lake and a deep bite is starting to shape up on the lower end. Storm Wiggle warts, Bandit 300's and War Eagle Spinnerbaits have all been catching fish shallow. Look for ledge rock banks to be the most productive areas and target fish from the bank out to 10' deep. Schools of shad have begun to group up in the center of larger creek arms and spotted bass have positioned themselves below the shad. Webb tail spoons worked below the shad will produce when the bite is on.
Kimberling City: The same shallow bite is working in the mid lake as in Branson, Fishing guides have been targeting fish on shallow windy ledge rock banks with wiggle warts, Bandits and War Eagle spinnerbaits. Follow the wind and shade throughout the day to be successful. Most of the fish have been less than 10' deep with several hitting on the drop off the "first ledge". Large community docks are producing with a Jewel Pro Spider jig and Paca Chunk combo, PB&J and green pumpkin candy have been the most effective colors, look for fish to be holding below the center walk way of the dock from the bank to 15' deep.
James River: The coldest water on the lake is on the James River right now, it is 4 – 6 degrees colder than in Branson. Fishing guides have been focused on shallow water almost exclusively up the James; wiggle warts, Bandits and spinnerbaits have been a mainstay and a few fish have been caught early and late or on cloudy days with a buzz bait. Look for shallow wood cover on ledge rock banks to be the most productive areas but don't pass up any shallow wood on gravel, several better fish have been caught on isolated laydowns on gravel flats this past week.
White River: The White River has just been fun over the past week or so, Branson fishing guides have been catching fish shallow and deep from Baxter to above Eagle Rock. The shallow bite is similar to the mid lake area; wiggle warts, spinnerbaits and Jewel Spider Jigs have all been effective ways to catch fish shallow. Windy ledge banks have been the ticket with a crankbait or spinnerbait while large community docks will produce with a jig. The deep bite seems to be a little further along on the White River, the center of big creek arms like Big Creek and Mill Creek have been producing well with a Webb Tail spoon. Find the shad and you'll find schools of spotted bass nearby.

With the exception of last weekend the Corps of Engineers has been running water from around 7:00 am until noon every day, this has made the morning bite nothing short of ridiculous. Get out at day break and you can have some of the best trout fishing Taneycomo has to offer for a few hours. Here is what's been working for Branson fishing guides this past week:
• Gulp and Power Bait Eggs fished from channel banks up to flats have been effective, mix egg colors to draw more strikes
• Trout magnets continue to produce beneath a float in creek arms from Fall Creek to below Monkey Island.
• Zig Jig marabou jigs have been great, sculpin and olive colors around docks and other cover from Cooper Creek through Branson.
• Micro Marabou jigs have been a top producer below a float. Brown and olive have been the best colors.
• Live night crawlers on a drift rig cast upstream allowing the current to drift the boat downstream over flats is a dominate pattern
• Egg flies and "glo bugs" cast upstream on a drift rig have been working well on a drift rig with a two pound leader.
The trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent, ever changing conditions make it more important than ever to have a guide with the right knowledge to put you on the trout. Call Focused Fishing Guide Service at 417-860-4743 today and book your trip of a lifetime.
