Lake Ontario - Freshwater Fishing Report
Today is Monday, November 14, 2011. The anticipated rain of the past week was little if any. As a result all of the tributaries within Orleans County have flows that are moderate to slightly low and visibility working its way to mostly clear. Even with that, there are very good numbers of both Brown and Rainbow/Steelhead trout being taken along with an occasional Chinook.
The wind conditions have caused the trash gates at the power project on the Oak to be clogged with leaves at a greater frequency, so changes in the flow patterns will occur more often. Also with the clearer water, lure colors will change from the predominant chartreuse and Orange patterns to the other patterns in the spectrum. With the promise of at least some rain today and tonight, some improvement to existing conditions may occur in respect to water levels and visibility.
This time of year hunting seems to take a priority with many so fishing reports are fewer. The good news is that this can mean that your favorite fishing hole may be completely devoid of another human being and just waiting for your arrival. With the unseasonably warm weather, Perch fishing has been spotty at best. Lake Alice is still producing some decent catches of Bluegill and Crappie from the Waterport Bridge to the dam but less than the past several weeks.
Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
