Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report
The water is starting to cool a bit, which should make things even better, both in- and offshore. Plenty of fish around, but the moon phase has had them feeding all night and staying a bit down during the daytime to avoid warm syrface temps. Experienced captains have turned to downriggers . We use the "Z-Wing" system exclusively, and it has worked for us for many years now. Sight fishing and deep jigging gets results also. Find some bait, either by sight or on sounder, and get down with butterfly jigs.
Bait situation still holding strong. Plenty of bonito, blue runner around to slow troll for marlin, or down for big dogtooth snapper, grouper, and others. Dorado still spotty, but plenty of tunas around to keep the BBQ's humpin'.
Won't be long, with some cooling rains, that we'll all be yelling WAHOO !!! .
