Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE LBJ, Texas
LARGEMOUTH: Good to 5 lbs. very early and at night in 2'-6'
using 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, Lake Fork Magic Shads
and (new) Creme Devil's Tongue on split shot rigs. (At night
use black Terminator buzzbaits & noisy topwaters). As sun gets up fish move deeper and hold in thick brush and tree tops in 8'-16' and over humps in 20' of water. Use a watermelon/chartreuse Creme Scremer worm or pumpkin Minnie Bucket lizard Texas style or Carolina rigged.
SMALLMOUTH: Good to almost 4 pounds along gravel/sandy flats
in 3'-8' on split shot rigs using Creme 'Devils Tongues' and crawdad Creme Super Tubes on 1/8th oz. heads.
CRAPPIE: Very good over brush piles in 12'-20' on live minnows and Creme Mini Tubes.
CATFISH: Very good to 30 lbs. on live bait, worms & punch bait.

SMALLMOUTH: Fair on finesse rigs such as Creme
"Devil's Tongues" and crawdad or blue Creme Super Tubes & 3" or 4" finesse worms worked down deep ledges in lower end of lake.
LARGEMOUTH: Fair to good to 3.5 lbs. on 1/4oz. Terminator
spinnerbaits, Lake Fork Magic Shads, Ice Tea Creme Scoundrel worms & smoke/flake Minnie Bucket twin tail grubs
on jig heads all fished over and through tree tops along deep water ledges.
STRIPER: Slow drifting live bait and cranking bucktail jigs.
Top water bite very poor.
WHITE BASS: Slow trolling Spin Traps or casting white Curb's feather jigs.
CATFISH: Good on Punch Bait, live bait and liver.
