Birmingham - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing for Giant Largemouth bass on Alabama's Guntersville Lake at Night Takes Lots of Patience and Nerves of Steel! Like the 11 pounder (seen at pictures) the lady caught while fishing with me on Guntersville lake this spring.
You never know what you are going to hook into when bass fishing day or night on Alabama's largest man made impoundment, Guntersville lake!
So anglers should be prepared for targeting these big bass this summer, that most anglers only think you can fool during the spring spawning season. Wrong!
I have seen dozens of trophy-sized bass, those exceeding that seemingly almost magical mark of ten pounds, taken out of Guntersville lake during my 40 plus years of guiding on Guntersville lake, as the lake's oldest, professional bass fishing guide.
That adds up to over 40 summers of fishing this massive lake for largemouth bass at night! With some real wall hangers weighing in the "teens" taken on all types of lures in the lake's weedy shallows in years past.
Fishing with weedless topwater lures like any of today's frog imitations, or with lures like spinnerbaits and buzzbaits in water 2-3 feet deep is very exciting!
Or at times we fish deeper creek and river channel ledges, rip-rap rocks around bridges and causeways, and the lake's well-lighted areas like around piers, marinas and boat houses. We will fish with bottom fished lures like 10-12 inch worms, 8 inch lizards, creature baits, tube baits and jig combos.
Besides avoiding the daytime crowds, its cooler at night and a lot more of these truly, big bass will be feeding in shallow water at night!
Give it try or call (205)663-1504 on Reeds Guide Service...first, today! Guntersville lake's oldest, professional bass fishing guide service for over 40 years!
Thanks and good fishin'
