The Fish are Biting in South Florida!

Capt. Alan Sherman
October 12, 2015
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fall is here and because of Hurricane Joaquin we have had thousands of baitfish move into our area. Pilchards, Spanish sardines, silver mullet, finger mullet and black mullet as well as flying fish and ballyhoo. Following this baitfish along the beaches and out into the ocean have been Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jack crevalle, king mackerel, dolphin, blackfin tuna and sailfish. In our bays we have had mackerel, bluefish, sea trout, small tarpon and snook, barracudas, snapper, grouper and ladyfish feeding on the baitfish schools. In Flamingo redfish, snook, tarpon, tripletail, snapper, jacks, ladyfish, sharks and sawfish are being caught.

If your not fishing now then you are really missing out at an opportunity top have an outstanding day on the water.

RECENT CATCHES:

I fished with my wife Dana offshore of Haulover Inlet looking for dolphins and we had a great day. 15 dolphins to 22 pounds, tripletail and more small jacks then you could imagine. All caught on Rapala Skitter Walks and Hookup lures tipped with Gulp soft plastics.

Alex and Steve struggled in North Bay. Lost of bait but nobody biting. It could have been the huge amount of boat traffic that day kept the fish from biting.

Bryan, Liza, Rob and Shea fished Flamingo for a half day and caught snook, redfish and a giant sawfish. The fish were caught using Hookup lures tipped with live pilchards and pinfish.
