Biloxi, MS - Hammer Time On The White Trout!

Capt. Robert L. Brodie
September 21, 2008
Mississippi Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

A FISH EVERY CAST...WELL ALMOST! - With easterly winds today I was looking for a nice calm out of the wind area to fish. Well, with a run down Ocean Springs east beach my loyal comeback client John Noel of Jackson, MS and I made a stop at the Gulf Park Estates Reef.

There, in 5-feet of water we proceeded to bottom fish, and our efforts were paid off with a fair bite on white trout.

However, took a Bayside Popper X-Treme cork with 5-feet of 25-pound-test Seaguar fluorocarbon leader finished off with a size 4 4XStrong Gamakatsu treble hook, and added a split shot 2-feet up from the hook.

Baited up with a piece of cut croaker or squid, and that made all the difference in the world.

By letting the bait suspend just off the bottom we were blessed with a nonstop bite on the silvery bottom dwellers.

A pop or two of the corks, and it was another day of white trout mania. Watching those corks plunge under or suddenly race across the surface was a blast.

And for most of the day we had the reef to ourselves. When the dust settled our tally was 130 nice white trout.

On the way in we stopped in the Back Bay of Biloxi, and there 3 nice black drum were added to the ice chest full of fine frying fish. By the way, there is no size or number limits on white trout in Mississippi's waters.

John drove back to my house with me, and his wife picked him up there. As regular clients they know the way to my home quite well.

Wacked out a 5-gallon bucked three-quarted full of fillets, and bagged up the fresh seafood. John and his wife headed back to Jackson, MS with some of the best frying fish on the planet.

Another beautiful day, a bit breezy, but an excellent day of fishing in south Mississippi.

Catching fish, relaxing, and enjoying the day is what it's all about, and that's what we did today.

Got a few days open this month, and October looks to be a good time to be on the water too. So come join me aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and create you own fishing memories.

PS: Don't forget to book you diving duck hunt with TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS for a shot at a trophy redhead this winter. It's $450 for an all day hunt, and a "cast and blast" can be arranged too. Hey, it's all good!

Regards,
Capt. Robert L. Brodie of TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS

Mississippi Sound Fishing Forecast:

October looks to be another prime month to be on the water in south Mississippi. When the weather is nice expect good catches of white trout, ground mullet, speckled trout, redfish, and flounders throughout the month. Once the weather begins to turn cold look for more fishing action to heat up in the inland bays and bayous. Barrier islands may still produce a few pompano if the weather remains mild, and redfish will be roaming their shallows too.

Target Species:

Speckled trout, redfish, flounders, white trout, ground mullet
